The Wine Makers - Sonoma Pride
With PRIDE month just around the corner, we invited two of our leaders in the LGBTQ+ community in Sonoma to give us the "rundown" of all the festivities happening this Summer.
Gary Saperstein is the owner and co-founder of Out In The Vineyard, an LGBTQ+ wine country travel and event company. The organization offers luxury curated itineraries, winery tours, private chef dining, and special events for LGBTQ+ travelers, highlighting the wine country lifestyle while providing tailored experiences for both visitors and locals
outinthevineyard.com. Its flagship event, Gay Wine Weekend, is a nationally recognized three-day festival celebrating LGBTQ+ community, wine, food, and culture in Sonoma Valley. The event attracts thousands of attendees from across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, bringing together activities such as winery tours, themed dinners, auctions, drag brunches, and the signature Twilight T-Dance.
Lisa Storment became deeply involved in community advocacy, particularly through Wake UP Sonoma, a nonprofit initially founded to monitor and expose potentially harmful real estate acquisitions by right-wing investors in the area.
As president, she has led efforts to educate the community about financial transparency, social justice, and local civil rights protections. The organization also focuses on:
*Supporting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities
*Advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
*Monitoring local corporate investment impacts on the community
*Promoting civic engagement and accountability
